Role: Secondary Food Technology Teacher
As a Secondary Food Technology Teacher, you will educate students on the fundamentals of nutrition, food science, and culinary arts. Your role involves fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of food preparation, health, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, following the National Curriculum for England.
- Deliver engaging lessons that integrate nutrition, food science, and practical cooking skills.
- Develop students’ understanding of healthy eating, food safety, and culinary techniques.
- Incorporate hands-on learning experiences to enhance students’ creativity and practical skills.
- Encourage innovation and sustainability in food production and preparation.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Utilize modern teaching strategies to create an interactive and inclusive classroom.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop an engaging and comprehensive curriculum.
- Promote a culture of health, wellness, and sustainability within the school community.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification such as BEd, PGCE, or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years’ experience teaching Food Technology at the secondary school level.
- Strong knowledge of food science, nutrition, and culinary arts.
- Ability to implement innovative teaching methods that engage and inspire students.
- Excellent classroom management skills and experience in differentiated instruction.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset, working effectively with colleagues and students.
