Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Math Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a rigorous mathematics curriculum. You will lead a dynamic learning environment, primarily delivering courses that align with American Common Core standards and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, engaging Mathematics lessons that align fully with American curriculum standards and IB Diploma requirements.
• Develop and execute instructional units that promote inquiry-based learning and the practical application of mathematical theories to real-world scenarios.
• Assess student progress consistently using formative and summative tools to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback for improvement.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to investigate complex numerical challenges with confidence.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the IB Coordinator to refine curriculum delivery and share innovative teaching strategies.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student achievement and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, such as graphing calculators and digital learning platforms, to enhance the quality of instruction and student engagement.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as math competitions, STEM clubs, or logic workshops.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international workshops on mathematics pedagogy.
• Build strong relationships with students and colleagues to support the holistic growth of the AHIS community.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related field of science education.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary education.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary Math teaching position.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with international curricula, specifically the American system or the IB Diploma Programme.
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
