The Lycée Franco-Argentin Jean Mermoz was born from the desire of two countries, France and Argentina, which from 1964 wished to develop and strengthen their cooperation in the field of education.
This strong will, assumed by the French president Charles De Gaulle and his Argentinian counterpart Arturo Umberto Illía , therefore allowed the laying of the first stone on October 3, 1964.
The Lycée opened its doors in March 1969, at its current location on Ramsay Street. Its importance and reputation have continued to grow since its opening, becoming an institution of excellence in Buenos Aires.
