It is a school that brings together cultures, develops universal human values, is secular, has high academic standards and teaches languages. It provides education from prekindergarten to the fourth year of secondary school. Its curriculum is recognized in both Chile and Switzerland.
Founded on April 3, 1939, it is the oldest of the Swiss schools in Latin America recognized and subsidized by the Swiss government. It also has the sponsorship of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft (BL, Basel Landschaft), which translates into constant support for educational work.
The Swiss School of Santiago was founded with the aim of providing the children of Swiss residents in Santiago de Chile with an education like in their faraway homeland. This initial objective has been transformed and now includes a high percentage of Chilean and other nationality students.
CSS has become a cultural link between Switzerland and Chile, providing knowledge, skills and ways of working that identify the Swiss style, which is called Swissness.
At CSS, the goal is to make the most of this encounter between countries with different cultures, traditions and customs. The idea is to broaden and enrich the worldview, without disconnecting students from the components of their original culture.
