This school is based in Zug, Switzerland and is looking for a German Assistant Teacher.

The International School of Zug and Luzern (ISZL) is seeking a full-time German Assistant Teacher for Primary School (Grades 1-5) starting 1 August 2024. The role involves working alongside and under the guidance of the German teaching team. Ideal candidates will be native German speakers with proficiency in English and experience working with children of diverse abilities. Knowledge of child development is desirable. The German Assistant Teacher will also participate in the after-school activities program one day per week.

Responsibilities:
Working with ISZL Children:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Foster a learning environment where children are key drivers of their own learning.
  • Support all children in the classroom under the guidance of the German teacher.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies and resources to cater to all students.
  • Confidently use a range of IT software.

 

Working with ISZL Colleagues:
  • Maintain regular contact with the German team to report on students’ academic performance, social integration, and general progress.
  • Participate in German team meetings and occasionally in school-wide meetings.
  • Engage with colleagues reflectively to deepen practice and learn from each other through regular meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of resources for lessons.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school by performing regular duties and being familiar with school policies.

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications:
  • Native German speaker with English proficiency at C1 level.
  • Experience working with children, preferably with recognized certificates.
  • Must have a Swiss or EU passport/valid Swiss work permit (or be approved for a Swiss work visa).
  • Familiarity with ISZL’s Candidate Profile is preferred.
