Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Visual Arts Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a rigorous arts curriculum across the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). You will lead a dynamic studio environment, ensuring students master diverse media, art history, and conceptual development through inquiry and evidence-based analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality Visual Arts lessons that align fully with IB MYP and DP frameworks and assessment requirements.
• Develop and execute instructional units that promote inquiry-based learning and the practical application of the creative process.
• Curate and organize school art exhibitions to showcase student work and promote the arts within the wider community.
• Assess student progress consistently using IB-specific rubrics to track creative growth and provide personalized feedback for portfolio development.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive studio environment that encourages students to take creative risks and innovate.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and coordinators to refine curriculum delivery and ensure vertical alignment.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, such as digital illustration tools, 3D modeling software, and digital portfolios, to enhance learning.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as community mural projects, art clubs, or design competitions.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international IB workshops.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field of arts education.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary education.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary Visual Arts teaching position.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies and digital art tools to enhance the quality of teaching.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
