Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Individuals and Societies Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a rigorous humanities curriculum across the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). You will lead a dynamic learning environment, ensuring students master complex concepts in history, geography, economics, or global politics through inquiry and evidence-based analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality Individuals and Societies lessons that align fully with IB MYP and DP frameworks and assessment requirements.
• Develop and execute instructional units that promote inquiry-based learning and the practical application of social science methodologies.
• Foster critical thinking by encouraging students to analyze multiple perspectives and evaluate complex global issues.
• Assess student progress consistently using IB-specific rubrics to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback for examination preparation.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to investigate human society with confidence.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and coordinators to refine curriculum delivery and ensure vertical alignment across the secondary school.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, such as digital archives, GIS tools, and interactive simulations, to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as Model United Nations (MUN), debate clubs, or community service projects.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international IB workshops.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History, Geography, Economics, Global Politics, or a related humanities field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary education.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary Individuals and Societies teaching position.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
