Role Overview
As an IB PYP Mathematics Teacher at Carmel School, you will play a crucial role in shaping students’ mathematical understanding within the Primary Years Programme (PYP). You will design engaging, inquiry-based lessons that build critical thinking, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. This position also offers opportunities to collaborate with colleagues, contribute to curriculum development, and integrate innovative practices that enhance student learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry and exploration
- Support students in developing strong numeracy, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the broader school community
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into the classroom
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably within an IB PYP setting
- Strong knowledge of mathematics pedagogy and inquiry-based teaching practices
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Enthusiasm for working in a diverse, international school community
- Commitment to professional growth and curriculum innovation
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English
