Role Overview

As a Primary Social Studies Teacher, you will design engaging lessons that explore people, places, history, and cultures through the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Your teaching will encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and respect for diverse perspectives. You will guide students in understanding their communities and the wider world, helping them develop problem-solving skills, empathy, and a sense of responsibility as active members of society.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Social Studies to primary school students within the IB PYP framework
• Develop lessons that connect history, culture, and geography to real-world contexts
• Foster inquiry-based learning, collaboration, and critical thinking
• Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Build a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary projects
• Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues to support student growth
• Contribute to school activities, events, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, Geography, or a related field
• Valid teaching license or certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience, preferably in Social Studies or related subjects
• Familiarity with international curricula; IB PYP experience is an advantage
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Enthusiasm for teaching in a diverse international school setting
• High proficiency in spoken and written English
• Commitment to professional growth and reflective teaching practices
• Ability to innovate, collaborate, and integrate technology into teaching
