Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Computer Science Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver high-standard instruction for students in Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. You will lead a vibrant digital learning environment, delivering a curriculum based on the English National Curriculum, including IGCSE and A-Level Computer Science. You will guide students through complex topics such as data structures, algorithms, and high-level programming languages. By working within our highly successful department, you will prepare students for top-tier university programs in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, engaging Computer Science lessons that align fully with IGCSE and A-Level specifications.
• Develop and execute units of study that promote computational thinking, logical reasoning, and efficient problem-solving.
• Assess student progress consistently using examination board rubrics to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback for improvement.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive digital classroom environment that encourages students to experiment with code and practice ethical computing.
• Collaborate consistently with secondary colleagues and leadership to refine curriculum delivery and share innovative teaching strategies.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, including modern IDEs, cloud-based collaboration tools, and physical computing hardware, to enhance the quality of teaching.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as coding clubs, hackathons, or robotics competitions.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international subject-specific workshops.
• Build strong relationships with all members of the school community to foster a sense of belonging and mutual respect.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary Computer Science position, preferably within the English National Curriculum framework.
• Subject Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of modern computing pedagogy, programming languages (such as Python or Java), and theory.
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
