Role: Secondary Head of Science

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Secondary Science Department, ensuring high standards in teaching, curriculum development, and student achievement.
• Deliver engaging and rigorous Science lessons at KS3 and KS4, following the Edexcel curriculum.
• Develop and implement effective assessment strategies to track and enhance student progress.
• Inspire students through practical experiments, research-based learning, and STEM initiatives.
• Support students in A-level Science subjects, ensuring they achieve top results and prepare for higher education.
• Foster an inclusive and diverse learning environment, ensuring all students feel supported and challenged.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-curricular STEM activities and promote scientific inquiry.
• Engage with parents, staff, and the wider school community to support student learning and academic excellence.
• Contribute to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) and stay updated with innovative teaching practices.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and PGCE/PGDE/PGDipEd/BEd.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related subject.
• Proven experience in KS3 & KS4 Science teaching (Edexcel curriculum preferred).
• Strong background in assessment design and student progress tracking.
• A track record of delivering consistently outstanding results through inspirational teaching.
• The ability to teach A-level Science subjects.
• A commitment to raising academic standards and supporting student success.
• Passion for inclusion, diversity, and student wellbeing.
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
