Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Computer Science Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Computer Science units for IGCSE and A-Level students. Align instruction strictly with the Pearson Edexcel syllabi requirements and Sayfol’s academic standards.
• Develop and execute practical programming tasks and theoretical analysis activities that promote computational thinking, advanced algorithmic design, and strong examination technique essential for success in external assessments.
• Supervise and guide students through practical coursework and project development required for the IGCSE/A-Level specifications.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, strictly aligned with Edexcel examination requirements and marking schemes. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the Head of Secondary/Pre-University on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
• Maintain a positive, highly organized, and professional computing laboratory environment, ensuring the effective management and security of IT resources.
• Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives, such as running coding clubs, robotics teams, or hosting hackathons.
• Utilize new technologies and diverse learning resources appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Science Education.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary Computer Science, with significant, verified experience teaching Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and/or International A-Level Computer Science syllabi being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Pearson Edexcel Computer Science syllabi and their assessment requirements, including practical programming.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom/lab management and superb communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency in relevant programming languages is essential.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
