Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the crucial role of High School ELA Teacher (English Language Arts). This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons for students across Grades 9-12.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous ELA lessons across the high school grades (9-12). Align instruction with established American international curriculum standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced literary analysis, argumentative essay writing, and effective oral communication skills.
• Assess student performance and progress consistently using formative and summative methods. Provide constructive, detailed feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to intellectual debate and academic inquiry.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and secondary leadership on curriculum planning, assessment development, and university guidance.
• Lead and advise students on research projects, essay writing competitions, or relevant extra-curricular activities.
• Integrate educational technologies strategically into lessons to enhance research, digital literacy, and the presentation of complex ideas.
• Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, communicating clearly about curriculum demands and university preparation.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Literature, Secondary Education (ELA focus), or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary ELA.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a High School ELA Teacher, ideally within an international school setting using American standards.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of American-based High School ELA curriculum standards. Experience with AP or similar college-level courses is beneficial.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English
