Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of IB PYP Visual Arts Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver high-standard art instruction within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. You will lead a dynamic studio environment that prioritizes student agency, creative risk-taking, and conceptual exploration.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, engaging visual arts lessons that align fully with the IB PYP framework and SNA standards.
• Develop and execute transdisciplinary units of inquiry that integrate visual arts with other subject areas to deepen student understanding.
• Assess student progress consistently using formative and summative strategies to track individual growth and document the creative process through digital portfolios.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive art studio environment that encourages students to experiment with diverse media and techniques.
• Collaborate consistently with grade-level teams and the PYP Coordinator to ensure the arts remain integral to the school’s Program of Inquiry (POI).
• Organize and coordinate student art exhibitions and showcases to celebrate student achievement and share learning with the wider school community.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student artistic development and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, such as digital art tools and documentation platforms, to enhance the quality of teaching and support student reflection.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as art clubs, community projects, or interdisciplinary workshops.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and official IB professional development workshops.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for primary or K-12 education.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in an IB PYP art position, preferably within an international school.
• Subject Knowledge: Show strong knowledge of the IB PYP framework and a mastery of various art media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
