Role Overview

As a Key Stage 1 Teacher, you will be directly responsible for designing and implementing a balanced curriculum that fosters strong skills in phonics, early reading, foundational mathematics, and inquiry-based science. You must possess excellent interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of KS1 pedagogy, and the ability to differentiate instruction effectively for diverse learners. The ideal candidate nurtures confident, resilient, and independent young students.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous lessons across all core subjects (English, Maths, Science, Topic) in line with the Key Stage 1 curriculum framework.
• Develop and execute strategies to build strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, ensuring all students meet expected national curriculum standards.
• Assess student performance and progress consistently using formative and summative methods, providing constructive, detailed feedback to students and parents.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to active learning and exploration.
• Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and primary leadership to ensure student well-being and academic success.
• Implement effective and diverse classroom management and motivational techniques suitable for this age group.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions, school-wide events, and phase-specific curriculum planning meetings.
• Integrate educational technologies strategically into daily lessons to enhance the quality of teaching and student engagement.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Primary Education, Education, or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Primary Homeroom Teacher, with specific experience teaching Key Stage 1 (Year 1 or Year 2), ideally in a British international school setting.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the English National Curriculum Key Stage 1 framework.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Proactive Approach: Be independent, self-motivated, and willing to proactively enrich the curriculum and contribute to school initiatives.
