Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Primary English Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous English units for all Primary grades. Align instruction strictly with the British Curriculum requirements and SBIS’s learning standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote reading fluency, comprehension strategies, confident public speaking, and sophisticated writing across various genres.
• Integrate the core values of G.R.I.T. into literacy lessons, encouraging students to show resilience in challenging tasks and teamwork in collaborative projects.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools aligned with British primary standards. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate consistently with primary colleagues and the Head of Primary on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
• Maintain a positive, highly organized, and professional classroom environment conducive to active learning and intellectual inquiry.
• Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives, such as leading a reading program or literary co-curricular activity.
• Ability to use new technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Primary Education, or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Primary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Primary English, with significant, verified experience teaching the UK National Curriculum or equivalent international curricula being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of UK Primary English subject content and assessment procedures.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
