About The Western Australian International School System
The Western Australian International School System (WASS) is a private educational institution in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, providing a multicultural learning environment for students from Kindergarten through Year 12. Established in 2010, it is one of only two schools in Vietnam officially licensed by the Western Australian Department of Education. High school students (Years 11–12) can pursue the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), or the American Diploma Pathway (ADP).
Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Primary Homeroom Teacher. This role requires a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum for primary-aged students. You will lead a dynamic classroom environment, primarily delivering the Western Australian Curriculum adapted for our diverse international setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, engaging lessons that align fully with the Western Australian Curriculum and school standards.
- Develop and execute instructional units that promote inquiry-based learning and the practical application of core skills.
- Assess student progress consistently using formative and summative tools to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to investigate real-world challenges and develop global citizenship values.
- Collaborate consistently with year-group colleagues to refine curriculum delivery and share innovative teaching strategies.
- Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
- Utilize new technologies, such as interactive displays and digital learning platforms, to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
- Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as extracurricular clubs, community events, or student-led projects.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and authorized Western Australian curriculum workshops.
- Build strong relationships with students and colleagues to support the holistic growth of the WASS community.
Qualification
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Primary Education or a related field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for primary education.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a Primary Homeroom position or a similar role.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with international curricula, specifically the Western Australian Curriculum or similar inquiry-based frameworks.
- Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
- Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
- Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
