Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Primary Homeroom Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across all core primary subjects (English/Literacy, Mathematics/Numeracy, Science, and Humanities). You will directly lead the planning and implementation of the Primary curriculum, utilizing the IPC and British National Curriculum standards to foster strong academic foundations, conceptual understanding, and independent learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Primary units across all core subjects. Align instruction strictly with the IPC and British Primary Curriculum standards and CHIS’s academic standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote strong literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring deep conceptual connection and application across thematic IPC units.
• Integrate inquiry-based learning and thematic studies inherent in the IPC framework, making learning relevant, rigorous, and internationally minded.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, clearly aligned with curriculum standards. Provide timely, constructive feedback and actively communicate student progress and learning goals with parents.
• Collaborate consistently with specialist teachers, grade-level team members, and the Head of Primary on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student welfare.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to active exploration and student success.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to enriching the co-curricular activity (CCA) program and wider school initiatives.
• Use new technologies and diverse learning resources to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Primary Education, Elementary Education, or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Primary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Primary Homeroom Teacher, ideally within a British or international curriculum setting. Experience with the IPC is highly desirable.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of Primary pedagogy and the British curriculum framework/IPC.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
