Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Cambridge AS/A-Level Mathematics Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous A-Level Mathematics units (Pure Maths, Mechanics, Statistics). Align instruction strictly with the Cambridge AS/A-Level syllabi requirements and GIGIS’s academic standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and effective use of mathematical tools, ensuring engagement and strong skill acquisition necessary for external exams.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools aligned with Cambridge standards and marking schemes. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate consistently with the Secondary Head and relevant department colleagues on curriculum mapping, establishing the new A-Level resources, and ensuring smooth vertical transition from IGCSE.
• Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives, such as leading a Maths competition team or specialized tutoring sessions (CCAs).
• Ability to use new technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents, and to build strong relationships with all members of the school community.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related STEM field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary/Senior Mathematics teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Senior Mathematics, with significant, verified experience teaching Cambridge International AS/A-Level Mathematics or equivalent pre-university curricula (e.g., IB HL, AP Calculus) being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Cambridge AS/A-Level Mathematics syllabi and their rigorous assessment requirements.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
