Position Overview: Elementary ESL Teacher
As an Elementary ESL Teacher, you will help non-native English-speaking students acquire the language skills needed to thrive in academic subjects and daily communication. You will create engaging, student-centered lessons that build reading, writing, speaking, and listening proficiency. Collaboration with homeroom teachers and specialists ensures integrated language support across disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver ESL instruction tailored to students’ English proficiency levels
- Use formative assessments to monitor language growth and adjust instruction accordingly
- Support language development across content areas in coordination with classroom teachers
- Provide individualized support through small group or one-on-one sessions
- Maintain clear communication with parents regarding student progress
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events
- Promote a classroom culture that values diversity, respect, and academic risk-taking
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ESL, TESOL, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (TESOL, CELTA, QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least 2 years of ESL teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting
- Strong knowledge of English language acquisition strategies and assessment
- Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Familiarity with American or international curricula is a plus
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning and global education
