Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Elementary Homeroom Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard, transdisciplinary lessons across all core primary subjects (Literacy, Mathematics, Inquiry/Science/Social Studies). You will directly lead the planning and implementation of the PYP curriculum, utilizing the IB PYP inquiry cycle and the Units of Inquiry (UOI) to foster conceptual understanding and the development of the IB Learner Profile attributes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, concept-driven, and transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry (UOI). Align instruction strictly with the IB PYP framework, its essential elements, and the school’s Programme of Inquiry (POI).
• Develop and execute strategies that promote strong literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring deep conceptual connection and application across subject areas.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools aligned with PYP principles (e.g., assessing conceptual understanding and transdisciplinary skills). Provide constructive feedback and actively communicate student progress and learning goals with parents.
• Collaborate consistently with specialist teachers, grade-level team members, and the PYP Coordinator on planning, resource development, and student welfare.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to active inquiry and student agency.
• Actively participate in professional development specific to the IB PYP and proactively contribute to enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives.
• Use new technologies and diverse learning resources appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Build strong, communicative relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, supporting the school’s community focus.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Primary Education or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Primary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Primary Homeroom Teacher, ideally within an authorized IB PYP school or similar international curriculum environment.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the IB PYP framework, its essential elements, and inquiry-based, concept-driven pedagogy.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
