Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Middle School Language Arts Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Language Arts lessons that align with the school’s American curriculum and standards.
- Develop and execute engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, collaborative discussion, and a genuine love for reading and writing.
- Assess student progress consistently using formative and summative tools. Provide timely, individualized, and constructive feedback to drive measurable academic growth.
- Collaborate consistently with Middle School colleagues and department leadership on curriculum alignment, interdisciplinary projects, and student support.
- Maintain a positive, highly organized, and professional classroom environment that reflects the school’s core values.
- Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives, such as leading literacy clubs or supporting extracurricular activities (CCAs).
- Ability to use new technologies (e.g., digital learning platforms, collaborative writing tools) to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents to build strong, supportive relationships within the ICS community.
Qualification
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, English Literature, or Secondary Education with an English focus.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., US State License, QTS, or equivalent) specifically for Middle or Secondary teaching.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Middle School Language Arts, preferably within an American international school setting.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of American ELA standards and effective pedagogical strategies for early adolescent learners.
- Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
- Language: Be a native English speaker or possess near-native proficiency in spoken and written English.
