Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Primary Class Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across all core primary subjects, including Literacy, Mathematics, Science, and Topic/Humanities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Primary units across all core subjects. Align instruction strictly with the British Curriculum (Key Stage standards) and GIS’s academic standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote strong literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring deep conceptual connection and application across thematic units.
• Integrate inquiry-based learning and project-based work into the classroom, making learning relevant, rigorous, and internationally minded.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, clearly aligned with curriculum standards. Provide timely, constructive feedback and actively communicate student progress and learning goals with parents.
• Collaborate consistently with specialist teachers, year-level team members, and the Head of Primary on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student welfare.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to active exploration and student success.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to enriching the co-curricular activity (CCA) program and wider school initiatives.
• Use new technologies and diverse learning resources appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Primary Education, Elementary Education, or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Primary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Primary Class Teacher, ideally within a British or international curriculum setting.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of Primary pedagogy and the UK National Curriculum (Key Stage 1/2 framework).
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
