Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary History Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Secondary History units, including examination classes. Integrate the British-based curriculum with engaging project and theme-based activities.
• Develop and execute engaging, analytical lessons that promote critical thinking, source evaluation, chronological understanding, and the ability to construct well-supported historical arguments.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools relevant to the IGCSE/A-Level standards. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement in both theoretical understanding and analytical writing.
• Collaborate consistently with Secondary colleagues and department leadership on curriculum alignment, resource development, and tracking student examination readiness.
• Maintain a positive, highly organized, and professional classroom environment conducive to active discussion, debate, and intellectual rigor.
• Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives, such as leading a History club, organizing historical simulations, or coordinating cultural trips.
• Ability to use new technologies (e.g., digital archives, historical databases, interactive timelines) to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents, and to build strong relationships with all members of the school community.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History, Social Science, or a related Humanities field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary History, with significant, verified experience teaching the UK National Curriculum (KS3/KS4/A-Level) or similar international program being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the British IGCSE/A-Level curriculum content and experience with examination boards (e.g., Edexcel, Cambridge).
