Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Maths Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a rigorous mathematics curriculum. You will lead a vibrant learning environment where students develop deep conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and quantitative literacy based on the National Curriculum for England.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality mathematics lessons that align with the British National Curriculum and exam board specifications.
- Develop and execute instructional units that promote deep inquiry and hands-on mathematical investigation.
- Cultivate a positive classroom culture that celebrates logical inquiry and supports a growth mindset.
- Assess student progress consistently using diverse formative and summative tools to track growth and provide personalized feedback.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment that encourages students to approach complex problems with perseverance.
- Collaborate consistently with department colleagues to ensure vertical alignment and a cohesive mathematics program across all secondary year groups.
- Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
- Utilize new technologies, such as graphing software, interactive whiteboards, and digital learning platforms, to enhance instruction.
- Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as math competitions, logic clubs, or STEM projects.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-led training and international mathematics education workshops.
Qualification
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related field of secondary education.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary mathematics.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary mathematics teaching position.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with the National Curriculum for England, IGCSE, and A-Level frameworks.
- Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
- Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
