Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Music Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across various secondary levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Music units across all secondary key stages. Align instruction strictly with the Cambridge International syllabi requirements and Inspiros’s academic standards.
- Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced musical theory, aural perception, historical knowledge, and strong examination technique essential for success in external assessments.
- Lead and coordinate a vibrant extracurricular music program, including ensembles, choirs, and bands, providing students with performance opportunities both within the school and the wider community.
- Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, strictly aligned with performance, composition, and written examination requirements. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
- Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the Head of Secondary on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
- Maintain a positive, highly organized, and professional learning environment, ensuring the effective management and care of musical instruments and resources.
- Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to enriching the curriculum and wider school initiatives.
- Use new technologies and diverse learning resources to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
Qualifications
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music, Music Education, Secondary Education (Music focus), or a closely related field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary teaching.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary Music, with significant, verified experience teaching IGCSE and A-Level Music being mandatory. Strong instrumental/vocal proficiency is required.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level Music syllabi and their assessment requirements.
- Skills: Maintain excellent classroom and ensemble management and superb communication skills.
- Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
