Role Overview: Secondary Music Teacher
As the Secondary Music Teacher, you will design and deliver an engaging music curriculum tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners. You will guide students through practical and theoretical aspects of music, develop performance confidence, and foster an appreciation for various musical genres and cultures. Collaboration with colleagues and active participation in school events, concerts, and productions are essential aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach secondary-level music classes with a focus on creativity, performance, and music theory
- Plan dynamic lessons that integrate technology and diverse teaching methods
- Prepare students for internal assessments and school performances
- Encourage musical exploration across instruments, vocals, and genres
- Maintain a well-organized, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Collaborate with other educators to create cross-curricular learning experiences
- Support student development through constructive feedback and regular assessments
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Participate in staff meetings, school activities, and ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or international equivalent)
- Minimum of two years’ experience teaching Music at the secondary level
- Strong knowledge of music theory, history, performance, and pedagogy
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Passionate about teaching in an international and multicultural environment
- Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to enhancing the school community
