Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Psychology Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Psychology units for A-Level students. Align instruction strictly with the Cambridge International syllabi requirements and SISM’s humanistic educational values.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced critical evaluation, essay writing based on evidence, strong research methods understanding, and examination technique essential for success in A-Level assessments.
• Integrate ethical considerations and the Soka philosophy into the study of human behavior, encouraging students to use their knowledge for the betterment of society and the creation of value.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, strictly aligned with Cambridge examination requirements and marking schemes. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues (Science/Humanities) and the Head of Pre-University on curriculum delivery, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
• Maintain a positive, highly organized, and professional classroom environment conducive to open discussion, intellectual inquiry, and rigorous academic study.
• Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives, such as running a Psychology/Neuroscience club or supporting student welfare initiatives (CCAs).
• Utilize new technologies and diverse learning resources appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a closely related behavioral science field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary Psychology, with significant, verified experience teaching Cambridge International A-Level Psychology or IB Psychology being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Cambridge International Psychology syllabi and their assessment requirements.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
