Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Business Studies & Economics Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard secondary instruction. You will lead students through the complexities of market dynamics, business strategy, and macroeconomic theory, ensuring they achieve top academic results in their IGCSE and A Level examinations. You will create a supportive atmosphere that balances rigorous academic standards with a focus on real-world application. By working alongside a team of world-class educators, you will prepare students for admission to the world’s leading universities and business schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Business Studies and Economics lessons that align fully with the British National Curriculum and IGCSE/A Level standards.
- Develop and execute engaging units of work that promote critical analysis of global markets, corporate ethics, and financial management.
- Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools to track progress and provide personalized interventions for every learner.
- Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and school leadership on curriculum mapping, resource development, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and highly organized learning environment that encourages students to debate economic theories and explore entrepreneurial ventures.
- Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships, providing timely updates on student progress and holistic development.
- Utilize new technologies, such as financial modeling software and digital data tools, to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
- Proactively enrich the curriculum and develop wider school initiatives, such as leading investment clubs, enterprise competitions, or economics journals.
Qualification
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Studies, Economics, or a related field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary or Senior School teaching.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the position, with significant experience in the British curriculum and IGCSE/A Level frameworks being highly preferred.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Business and Economics subject areas and effective pedagogical strategies for secondary learners.
- Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
- Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
