Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of High School General Science Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver high-standard science instruction. You will lead a dynamic learning environment that prioritizes conceptual understanding and the application of the scientific method to real-world challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, engaging science lessons that align fully with American standards and the SSIS college-preparatory curriculum.
- Develop and execute instructional units that promote inquiry-based learning and the development of laboratory experimental skills.
- Assess student progress consistently using formative and summative tools to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive laboratory environment that encourages students to investigate scientific theories and develop academic independence.
- Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and coordinators to refine curriculum delivery and share innovative teaching strategies.
- Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
- Utilize new technologies, such as data-logging sensors and virtual simulations, to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
- Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as science fairs, robotics clubs, or environmental sustainability projects.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international professional development workshops.
- Build strong relationships with all members of the school community to foster a sense of belonging and mutual respect.
Qualification
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Science field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or Science Education.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary science.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a high school science position or a similar role.
- Subject Knowledge: Show strong knowledge of the [position/subject] and familiarity with international or American-based curricula.
- Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
