Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the crucial role of High School Mathematics Teacher (teaching students typically Grades 9-12). This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons in advanced Secondary Mathematics. You will teach diverse courses, which may include Pre-Calculus, Honors Algebra, AP Calculus/Statistics, and/or the IB DP Mathematics courses.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Mathematics units across the High School. Align instruction strictly with AP, IB DP, and school curriculum standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced problem-solving, mathematical modeling, and conceptual understanding crucial for international assessment components (e.g., AP exams, IB IAs, and external assessments).
• Assess student work consistently using published international criteria and school standards. Provide constructive, detailed feedback to drive measurable improvement in examination technique and conceptual depth.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to mathematical discourse and exploration.
• Collaborate effectively with Secondary colleagues, the AP/IB Coordinators, and the Mathematics department on curriculum articulation, resource development, and moderation.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment (e.g., math competitions, tutoring programs) and wider school initiatives.
• Use new technologies (e.g., graphing calculators, statistical software) appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Secondary Mathematics Education, or a closely related quantitative field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, US State Certification, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary Mathematics.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching High School Mathematics, ideally within an international school setting. Significant experience teaching AP Mathematics or IB DP Mathematics is highly preferred.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of international Secondary Mathematics curricula, specifically AP and/or IB DP.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
