Role Overview
The IGCSE / A-Level History Teacher will teach Cambridge History to secondary and senior secondary students. This role focuses on deepening understanding of world history topics such as political movements, international relations, revolutions, and cultural transformations. The teacher will encourage students to analyze multiple viewpoints, evaluate sources, and connect historical insights to real-world situations and current global issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach IGCSE and A-Level History using interactive and inquiry-based approaches
- Create lesson plans that promote historical thinking, discussion, and research
- Assess student performance and guide them toward academic improvement
- Encourage confidence, curiosity, and independent learning in the classroom
- Integrate technology and digital resources to support learning outcomes
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum quality
- Maintain effective communication with parents about student progress
- Participate in school initiatives, events, and professional growth programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History or a closely related field
- Teaching certification such as QTS, PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a similar role
- Experience with Cambridge curriculum preferred
- Strong subject expertise and excellent communication skills
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning
- High proficiency in written and spoken English
- Confident use of technology to support teaching and learning
