Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the crucial role of IB PYP Kindergarten Teacher (typically teaching students aged 5-6). This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard units of inquiry across all learning areas, specifically tailored for the Kindergarten age group within the PYP framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, concept-driven lessons and full Units of Inquiry (UOI). Align instruction strictly with the IB PYP curriculum framework and the school’s Christian mission.
• Integrate biblical principles and character development into daily instruction and classroom management practices.
• Assess student progress consistently using formative and observational methods aligned with PYP principles. Maintain accurate records and comprehensive progress reports.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive, inquiry-based classroom environment conducive to active exploration and student agency.
• Collaborate effectively with the PYP Coordinator, grade-level colleagues, and specialist teachers to ensure the coherence and integrity of the Program of Inquiry (POI).
• Actively participate in PYP professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment and wider school initiatives, including faith-based activities.
• Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, communicating clearly about curriculum goals and student success.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Early Years/Primary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Kindergarten or Primary Homeroom Teacher, ideally within an international school setting. Significant experience teaching the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is essential.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the IB PYP framework and early years pedagogy.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
