Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Middle School Science Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a rigorous science curriculum based on American standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). You will lead a vibrant learning environment where students develop deep conceptual understanding, scientific inquiry skills, and practical laboratory proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality science lessons that align with American standards and school learning objectives.
- Develop and execute instructional units that promote hands-on laboratory work, scientific inquiry, and engineering design challenges.
- Cultivate a positive classroom and laboratory culture that celebrates curiosity and supports a growth mindset.
- Assess student progress consistently using diverse formative and summative tools to track growth and provide personalized feedback.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment that follows strict health and safety protocols for laboratory experiments.
- Collaborate consistently with department colleagues to ensure vertical alignment and a cohesive science program across the middle school.
- Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
- Utilize new technologies, such as digital simulations, data loggers, and interactive platforms, to enhance the quality of teaching.
- Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as science fairs, STEM clubs, or environmental projects.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-led training and international science education workshops.
Qualification
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field of middle school education.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., U.S. State License, QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for middle school science.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a middle school Science teaching position.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with American standards (NGSS) and international teaching practices.
- Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
- Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
- Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
