Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary PE Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons in Physical Education. You will teach diverse courses, including compulsory Middle and High School core PE, and academic courses such as IB DP Sport, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS) and/or Cambridge IGCSE/A-Level Physical Education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous PE units across the Middle and High School. Align instruction strictly with the specific IB and Cambridge syllabi and examination/assessment requirements.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote physical literacy, teamwork, sportsmanship, and deep conceptual understanding of anatomy, exercise physiology, and psychology of sport.
• Assess student work consistently using IB/Cambridge criteria and school standards, focusing heavily on practical performance, written examinations (for academic courses), and personal goal setting. Provide constructive, detailed feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate effectively with Secondary colleagues on curriculum articulation, moderation, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive teaching environment (gymnasiums, fields, weight rooms, pool).
• Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment, coaching competitive sports teams, and supporting wider school initiatives, including school-wide sporting events.
• Use new technologies (e.g., heart rate monitors, performance analysis software) appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or Secondary Education (relevant focus).
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary PE teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary PE, ideally within an IB and/or Cambridge international school setting. Specific, verified experience teaching IB DP SEHS or Cambridge A-Level PE is highly desirable.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the IB DP and/or Cambridge IGCSE/A-Level PE syllabi and assessment criteria.
• Skills: Maintain excellent class and field management skills and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
