Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of High School SEND Teacher (Learning Support). This position demands a specialist who can effectively design, manage, and deliver specialized instruction for students with mild to moderate learning differences. You will work within the High School division to ensure that every student can access our rigorous curriculum, which includes both Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver specialized instruction and interventions that meet the unique needs of neurodiverse students in grades 9 through 12.
• Develop and manage Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in collaboration with parents, principals, and counselors to outline specific accommodations and goals.
• Interpret psycho-educational testing and translate clinical recommendations into concrete, effective classroom practices and teaching methodologies.
• Assess student progress consistently against learning objectives, using data from formative and summative assessments to inform instructional adaptations.
• Collaborate effectively with subject-area teachers to differentiate and personalize instruction within the general education classroom.
• Serve as an expert on current trends in inclusive education, modeling research-based approaches that promote student independence and problem-solving.
• Liaise with the Student Development team and external professionals, such as educational psychologists, to provide a holistic support network for at-risk students.
• Communicate regularly with parents and administrators regarding student attainment, social-emotional growth, and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies and assistive tools to enhance student communication and provide greater access to rich curriculum experiences.
• Proactively contribute to the wider school community by leading initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the high school.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or a related field.
• Certification: Possess a current, government-issued teaching license with an official endorsement in Special Education or SEND.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience in a high school learning support or SEND position.
• Technical Expertise: Show proficiency in diagnostic and norm-referenced educational testing, including analysis and formal report development.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Display familiarity with international college-preparatory curricula, specifically the IB Diploma Programme or Advanced Placement (AP) frameworks.
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb professional communication and organization skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Personal Attributes: Demonstrate empathy, patience, and a proactive mindset in enriching the curriculum and building strong relationships with the school community.
