Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Primary EAL Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver high-standard language support for students whose first language is not English. You will work across the primary years, providing both push-in and pull-out support to ensure every learner accesses the core curriculum. By working within our world-renowned bamboo campus, you will prepare students to communicate effectively and participate fully in our diverse international community.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, targeted EAL lessons that align with the British Curriculum and Panyaden’s core values.
• Develop and execute individualized learning plans (ILPs) that promote rapid progress in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
• Assess student language proficiency consistently using formative and summative tools to track growth and determine support levels.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to take risks with their new language.
• Collaborate consistently with primary homeroom teachers to differentiate classroom materials and support student integration.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on their child’s linguistic development.
• Utilize new technologies and interactive digital resources to enhance the quality of language teaching and stimulate student curiosity.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as language clubs, cultural celebrations, or literacy events.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international EAL workshops.
• Build strong relationships with all members of the school community to foster a sense of belonging for diverse learners.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) and a recognized EAL/ESL qualification.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a primary EAL position, preferably within an international school.
• Subject Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of second language acquisition theories and primary pedagogy.
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider initiatives.
